Whether you’re handing out sugary goodies, trick-or-treating with your little one, or spending the night at a party, here are five easy tips to follow that will ensure you have a fun and safe Halloween.
1. Make sure your outdoor lights are on and working properly.
If you’re handing out candy to trick-or-treaters this year, make sure your outdoor lights are turned on and working properly. Not only will this let candy hunters know you’re passing out treats, but it will make it easier for everyone to see walkways, which will prevent anyone from tripping and falling.
2. Clear walkways of debris.
No one wants their child to trip over debris and hurt themselves while out trick-or-treating. Before trick-or-treaters arrive, take a few minutes to clear the sidewalk and driveway of debris such as leaves and fallen branches.
3. Carve pumpkins safely.
Still planning on carving a pumpkin before Halloween night? If so, be sure to carve safely, especially if your little ones are helping. Make sure all carving is left to an adult. Another fun alternative for kids is decorating pumpkins with markers or paint.
4. Make sure trick-or-treaters are supervised.
If your little ones are going trick-or-treating tomorrow, don’t let them go alone. Young trick-or-treaters should always go with a responsible adult.
5. Check your child’s candy before he or she eats it.
It’s always a good idea to check your child’s bounty before they dive in. Make sure that he or she doesn’t eat any candy that isn’t factory-wrapped. Homemade treats should be avoided unless you know the person who prepared them.
